Swedish biometric specialist won yet another tender to supply technology for a national ID card scheme; order comprises licenses for Precise Match-on-Card technology and delivery will start during the first half of this year

Lund, Sweden-based Precise Biometrics has won yet another tender to supply technology for a national ID card scheme. The order comprises licenses for Precise Match-on-Card technology and delivery will start during the first half of this year. Using Precise’s technology, the biometric identity check can be made directly on the card, enabling checks to be conducted off-line without requiring external databases.

Precise says it is currently unable to confirm the location of the country that is adopting the technology, Thomas Marschall, president and CEO of the company told SDW: “There is a substantial strengthening of ID schemes in the region, and further projects are coming up with other countries in the region in 2008/2009. He added: “From a strategic point of view, we have now won the national ID card schemes in four countries, and that’s more than by any other biometric firm.”
