Sequiam locks up the biometrics market with Kwikset deal

Agreement allows Kwikset to add biometrics to its residential security business; deal another example of Sequiam’s interest in a wide array of partnerships; biometrics are moving quickly into the domestic arena

Security companies looking for a biometrics partner cannot do much better than Orlando, Florida-based Sequiam Corporation. Early this year we reported on the company’s new biometric OEM kit, the Sequiam Universal Biometric Interface, that allows manufacturers to add biometric access to their existing product lines; and we noted it struck a similar deal with ZeroNines Technology to create a biometrically secure e-mail and data storage portal for the latter’s MyFailSafe.com Web site. Not a company to rest on its laurels, Sequiam announced this week that it has signed a new partnership with lockmaker extraordinaire Kwikset to develop residential security products with biometric features.

This strategic alliance will enable Kwikset to deliver cost-effective products for consumer applications based on technologies initially developed for government, law enforcement, national security and space exploration.” said Dave Albert, vice president of brand marketing and business development for Kwikset.
