IDO Security introcues a high-speed shoes-on portable footwear weapons detection system

Taking your shoes off at airport checkpoints is not only inconvenient, but may also be risky to you health since the hygenic habits of travelers vary. New York-based IDO Security , a subsidiary of Israeli company Ido Security (2000), has a solution: MagShoe, a high-speed shoes-on portable footwear weapons detection system. The MagShoe is already being used at the Israel Parliament and by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Personal Protection Unit. The MagShoe has also been initially deployed by Airlines and Airports in several countries.

IDO Security’s solution addresses a real problem: Current security screening technology is inadequate rapidly to screen large numbers of people for weapons. MagShoe complements currently used walk-through whole-body metal detectors by adding a clear response to shoe screening at ground level. Note that the MagShoe scans not only footwear for weapons, but also a portion of the lower extremities. “I’m excited to be introducing this innovative Israeli developed security screening technology to the North American market as well as the rest of the world,” says company’s presdient Michael Goldberg. “Israeli based companies have been leaders in bringing high technology to market.”

MagShoe has been issued a patent in the United States in November 2005, covering various aspects of its technology. In January 2006 the MagShoe was approved for use by the Department for Transport in the United Kingdom after field trials were conducted for the Home Office’s Police Scientific Development Branch. IDO has been certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) under ISO 9001:2000 compliance for the design, development, and manufacture of electronic, electro-optic, and electro-mechanical systems
