Interactive tool expedites emergency response

Published 3 January 2013

During, and following, Hurricane Sandy, officials from Rockland County, New York benefitted from a new interactive mapping tool which expedited emergency response. The tool provides a map-based common operating picture which allowed county, local, and state highway, fire, police, utility, the Red Cross, and other emergency personnel to record and share information on road obstructions and closures, downed power lines, and more as events unfolded.
