Egypt warns of disaster if Ethiopia completes Nile River dam

Ethiopia is in the process of constructing Africa’s largest hydroelectric dam on the Nile, the world’s longest river. The dam, when completed, will threaten flows of water to Nile-dependent, water-starved Egypt, where outrage, anger at Ethiopia, and fear grow. In the past, Egypt has threatened to go to war against any of its neighbors if they engaged in activities, such as dam construction, which would deny Egypt its “historic rights” to Nile River water.
