TSA to increase cooperation with non-U.S. sister agencies

Transportation Security Administration creates new office — Office of Global Strategies — to work with sister agencies abroad on common air traffic security issues

What is it that they say about an ounce of prevention: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) yesterday announced the creation of the Office of Global Strategies. The office aims to increase security by working more closely with the agency’s partners and overseas operations affecting the U.S.

The new office will be led by Bill Gaches, who will oversee the agency’s transportation security administration representatives (TSARs), who serve as official TSA representatives across the world. TSARs serve the agency in foreign countries and work with the governments of these countries to improve international transportation security. The TSARs will work alongside the corps of aviation security experts already based abroad and entrusted with regulatory and inspection responsibility.

The Office of Global Strategies will work with partner agencies abroad on issues such as common strategies on screening liquids, aerosols, and gels; implementing advanced technologies and intelligence sharing.
