Colin Cummings named new ICx technologies CEO
Cummings will succeed Hans Kobler, who will continue as chairman; Kobler will go after opportunities the company sees from increased government spending; company’s detection unit suffered from delays in DHS business in the fourth quarter
ICx Technologies Inc. named Colin Cumming its new president and CEO.
He was promoted from chief technology officer and president of the detection business unit at the Arlington-based developer of advanced sensor technologies (NASDAQ GS: ICXT). Hans Kobler, former CEO, will continue to serve as executive chairman.
“Colin Cumming is one of our company’s founders, and from day one he has done an outstanding job turning our detection division into a leading and important player in the industry. With the progress of our company-wide unification and streamlining initiatives, he will now bring that same discipline to a much leaner and more unified ICx,” said Kobler, 43.
Cumming, 56, was founder and CEO of Nomadics for eleven years before it combined with ICx. Kobler said he plans to focus more time on going after opportunities the company sees from increased government spending, international expansion and related strategic activities.
Its detection unit was hurt by delays in government business in the fourth quarter — in particular the DHS market — which the company partially attributes to the change in administration. Its sales dipped 5 percent to $22.3 million that quarter.
