Datastrip shows new, versatile identity documents reader
More and more government agencies and private companies turn to biometric identity cards for secure authentication; there is a need for reliable readers to read these cards, and Datastrip offers one
What with the TWIC program being underway and the move toward more biometric information-carrying cards by both government agencies and private companies, there is a need for readers to read these cards. So we note a new handheld biometric terminal from Datastrip Inc. reads contact and contactless chips found on identity documents and cards such as passports and driver’s licenses.
The DSV2+TURBO handheld biometric terminal is HSPD-12-certified and is designed for federal, state, and local applications requiring on-the-spot verification. The reader is FIPS 201-certified and enables authentication of digital ID information. Its 508-dpi fingerprint sensor provides verification for instant biometric processing. The reader has a large, high-resolution touchscreen display which is readable in direct and lowlight conditions. The reader also has an extended-life battery, bar code scanning, proximity and magnetic stripe card reading, and flexible communications options including cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
