DigitalGlobe awarded yet another NGA contract

Published 17 March 2006

The U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has awarded a $12 million satellite imagery capacity contract modification to Longmont, Colorado-based DigitalGlobe. The ClearView contract would allow the NGA to acquire additional commercial imagery from DigitalGlobe’s QuickBird satellite, which the company says is the world’s highest resolution commercial imaging satellite. DigitalGlobe’s imagery is used for a number of mapping and planning activities in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, and commercial markets.

DigitalGlobe has a habit of winning good contracts from NGA. Let’s see:

In January 2003 the company was awarded a $72 million contract to deliver high-resolution satellite imagery to the NGA over a three-year period, as part of a ClearView contract not to exceed $500 million

In September 2003 the company was awarded an additional $9.8 million modification to the ClearView contract

In July 2005 it was awarded a $6.1 million supplemental modification to the ClearView contract

In January 2006 DigitalGlobe was awarded another $24 million capacity contract modification, enabling the NGA to acquire additional commercial imagery from DigitalGlobe’s QuickBird satellite

Not bad.
