Green protection against terrorist attacks

Here is a solution which combines responses to two great concerns of the time: terrorism and the environment; Georgia company offers an environmentally friendly anti-terrorist vehicle barrier

When thinking about thwarting a terrorist attack, environmental concerns typically do not intrude. This does not mean that protecting ourselves against attacks cannot be done in an environmentally friendly way. Cummings, Georgia-based SecureUSA agrees. It has developed an energy efficient, pollution-free antiterrorist vehicle barriers which are less disruptive to the environment where they are installed. The company says that the FutureWEDGE Series has been designed in both surface mount and shallow mount configurations. Unlike other barriers on the market, the new barriers can be cost effectively bolted straight down to a suitable road surface — or for greater crash rating, shallow mounted in as little as only nine inches of foundation. This shallow mount design reduces disruption to the surrounding environment and underground utilities. It also speeds install time.

The FutureWEDGE and Electric Bollard Series are electrically operated, thus eliminating messy hydraulic oils and hazardous waste. The three-phase motor design featured in both the FutureWEDGE and the company’s Electric Bollard Series provides smoother and efficient operation than traditional vehicle barriers, allowing the barriers to be reversed in mid cycle without high stress or wear and tear on the drive components. The simple electromechanical drive system has few moving parts and is easily maintained.
