Integrian buys Signal Innovations Group
Deal expands Integrian’s mobile surveillance and analytics business; SIG known for data modeling and algorithm design for defense applications; acquisition the third in two years for Integrian
The last time we heard from Morrisville, North Carolina-based Integrian, the company was actively marketing its TransitCam TC-50, an on-board CCTV passenger surveillance device for bus and light rail systems, and was actively seeking business opportunities in the Middle East and Canada. Now we hear that the privately-held RTP-based developer of mobile surveillance and video camera technology has acquired Durham, North Carolina-based Signal Innovations Group (SIG), a provider of video analytics technology for government and industrial applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SIG, also privately-held, develops data modeling methods and algorithm design for applications in the arcane fields of Machine Learning Techniques, Game Theory Decision Systems, and statistical methods. Among its many successes are business innovation research grants from both the U.S. Navy and Air Force to develop tactical target recognition algorithms for air, ground, and sea-based military operations. “The technology developed by SIG is extremely innovative and the most powerful we have seen on the market,” said Integrian CTO Brad Silvernail. “It is an adaptive approach for pattern recognition and decision analysis that can easily be modified for new applications.”
This is just the latest acquisition for this aggressive company. Integrian bought Digital Safety technologies in March of 2005 and Australia-based Innovonics later that same year. Integrian investors include: Intersouth Partners, Wakefied Group, Motorola Ventures, Polaris Ventures, and Credit Suisse.
