F&SInvestments in biometrics and market prospects are coming into line

The belief that the biometric market is set for explosive growth is not exactly a secret, but what is surprising is what Frost & Sullivan argues - that, to date, biometric companies have been hindered by a lack of investment. Market prospects and investment activity are coming into line, however, as recent venture capital and private equity activity signals, that is all about to change. “When it comes to investments in biometric applications the traditional fingerprint segments are very fertile for private equity companies,” says F&S Rob Allen. “However, venture capital groups are finding companies more in line with their investment criteria in the new wave of applications such as facial recognition, eye scan and voice verification technologies.”
