ADT Commercial was selected by the City of Tallahassee, Florida to upgrade the security at the city airport — and integrate the different security solutions; the integrated system includes video surveillance, access control, and emergency notification systems
ADT Commercial and the City of Tallahassee, Florida announced today the installation of high-tech security systems to help protect the Tallahassee Regional Airport. The solutions include video surveillance, access control, and emergency notification systems.
“The new security systems we’ve deployed help us in our partnership with law enforcement and TSA,” said David Pollard, Superintendent of Airport Operations. “These measures also elevate our facility among the few regional airports in the United States that are compliant with federal identification standards FIPS-201.”
TallahasseeRegional Airportfaced the task of modernizing its critical infrastructure to promote operational readiness and improve its security. ADT Commercial was selected to integrate a range of security upgrades throughout the airport.
“We’re honored to help protect the Tallahassee Regional Airport, the entry point to Florida’s state capital,” said Dan Schroeder, ADT Vice President. “In the ten years since 9/11, ADT has delivered security solutions for many of the nation’s airports to promote safety in this ever-changing environment.”
ADT replaced legacy systems and installing the latest solutions. Surveillance cameras were upgraded, with coverage expanded throughout the airport to for quicker response during emergencies and investigations. Intellex digital video recorders (DVRs) from American Dynamics were deployed and connected to a new Intransa storage system in a RAID configuration, recording all video and creating redundant back-up on site.
To strengthen public communication with airport employees and first responders, ADT also installed its Select Link emergency alert notification system.
A new Software House C-CURE 9000 access control system was integrated with the video surveillance system, to help improve situational awareness. For sensitive security areas of the airport, L-1 Biometric card readers were installed for fingerprint scanning.
“If the C-CURE 9000 access control system generates an alarm, camera images are automatically delivered to the Airport Security Specialist on duty,” remarked Pollard. “This integration helps enable a quick response to potential security violations by both Airport and Law Enforcement personnel.” Sunil Harman, Aviation Director for the airport, concluded, “We are at the cutting edge of technology.”
