The FBI believes they may have found Daniel Andreas San Diego, the first domestic terrorist to be placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist list, in Northampton, Massachusetts. San Diego is wanted for bombing two companies in 2003 that were related to a firm that engaged in animal testing and there is currently a $250,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

In August 2003 two explosive devices were detonated at the offices of the Chiron Corporation, an Emeryville California-based biotechnology firm. No one was injured in the attacks.

In September another bomb was placed in a doorway on the south side of the Shaklee Corporation, which makes a variety of environmentally-friendly products.

A group calling itself the Revolutionary Cells – Animal Liberation Brigade claimed responsibility for both attack. In an email sent to reporters, the group described Chiron as “animal killing scum” and that the company was target because of its ties to Huntington Life Sciences.

Chiron, you were asked to sever your ties with (Huntingdon), you were told, and yet you continued your relations with them,” the group wrote.

You might be able to protect your buildings, but can you protect the homes of every employee?”

Huntington is a British company with facilities in New Jersey and is frequently targeted by animal rights groups for its scientific experiments on animals.

At the time, investigators believed that San Diego was tied to the Revolutionary Cells group and obtained a warrant for his arrest. In an attempt to gather more evidence, they had San Diego followed, but in October 2003, after parking his car in downtown San Francisco, he vanished.

In July of 2004, he was indicted by a U.S. District Court in Californiafor his role in the attacks and his whereabouts have remained unknown until recently when the FBI received an anonymous tip that he might be living in Northampton, a town in western Massachusetts just north of Springfield.

San Diego is described as a six-foot tall, 160 pound white male with multiple tattoos, including an image of burning hillsides on his chest with the words “it only takes a spark” below.

The FBI is encouraging anyone with information regarding San Diego to immediately contact their Boston or San Francisco  offices.
