Israeli company Suspect Detection Systems will teach behavioral detection technology at India’s elite Forensic Science University; the institute will become a gateway for Israeli technology and future research and development; the company claims its solution has already helped detect more than 150 crimes

The cooperation between Israel and India on security and defense issues, and between Israeli and Indian defense and security companies, is growing. The latest: Israeli company Suspect Detection Systems Inc., a developer of counter-terror and crime prevention technology, said the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with India’s Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU). The university will teach the methodology and implementation of the company’s Cogito automated rapid interrogation technology to students and forensics experts across the country. The company says Cogito has already been proven successful in the field in India, a country with growing crime and terror threats.

Suspects in more than 150 cases including those involved in terrorism, rape, murders, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and the like had been put through the Suspect Detection System and these crimes have been detected,” said Dr. J. M. Vyas, director general of the university’s Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS). Among the crimes detected was corporate data theft, as well as design and technology theft at an unnamed nuclear power plant.

Cogito is a powerful tool that can accurately pinpoint potential terrorists or criminals at any site with advanced security and crime prevention needs,” said Eran Drukman , president of Suspect Detection Systems. “With over 1.2 billion residents and a dynamic crime and terror threat, India represents a tremendous market for our technology.”

This MoU proves that India’s leading forensics leaders see the value of our proprietary Cogito system,” added Drukman. “We are confident that the continuous implementation of Cogito technology will greatly aid law enforcement officers at border crossings, airports, and any other location where real-time suspect identification is required.”

The SDS technology is a portable device that works on the heartbeats and neuron-signals of a person who is asked a pre-defined set of questions. The process takes under five minutes and gives an approximate idea of the person’s intentions.

DFS officials said the institute will become a gateway for Israeli technology and future research and development.
