Pilgrims prevented from carrying Lourdes water on board

The Vatican launched a new charter service flying pilgrims to Lourdes; those who tried to take bottles of the holy water back with them were told by airport security that even Holy water is a security threat

The Vatican had an idea on how to serve the religious yearnings of its flock and also make some money which will go to the church’s charities: Launch a new charter flights for pilgrims which will take them to Lourdes. The Vatican, and the pilgrims, however, did not take into account new airport security regulations, so that when Paola Saluzzi, an observant Catholic, tried to carry eight small plastic bottles of water “in the shape of the little Madonna” from Lourdes on one of the charter flights, she was stopped by security inspectors at France’s Tarbes-Lourdes airport who prevented her from bringing the liquid with the supposedly miraculous healing powers back to Rome. One passanger was quoted as saying, “The real miracle would have been getting it past airport security.”
