Two Florida airports received assistance under TSA’s Screening Partnership Program

Strike up the band once again for Reston, Virginia-based Raytheon Technical Services (RTSC), which late last month announced a four-year $16.3 million contract to provide passenger and baggage screening services at Key West International Airport and the Florida Keys Marathon Airport. The contract was awarded under the TSA’s Screening Partnership Program (SPP), which enables qualified private vendors to perform the screening of passengers and baggage at airports participating in the program — duties normally performed by TSA employees. According to Raytheon, which teamed up with Springfield, Virginia-based McNeil Security for the project, security officers currently working security at the two Florida airports will be offered jobs with the Raytheon/McNeil team. An additional twenty to thirty guards will be hired as well. “It’s a win-win for everyone involved,” said Raytheon’s Dave Dacquino.

In other, belated, RTSC-related news, the company announced in March that it had named Tom Arnsmeyer vice president of its Homeland Security Solutions product line. Prior to joining Raytheon, Arnsmeyer was on special

assignment as vice president and lead executive for major pursuits in the

homeland security market at Northrop Grumman, where he also served as

vice president of the company’s Information Technology Security and

Infrastructure Solutions operating unit.
