Collecting and registering personnel into biometric databases is key to helping identify insurgents throughout the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility; SAIC awarded a $23 million contract to help

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) announced that it was awarded a prime follow-on contract by the U. S. Department of Defense (DoD), Biometrics Identity Management Agency (BIMA) to continue providing biometric support services to the U.S. Central Command’s (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR). The task order has a one year base period of performance, two one year options and a total value of more than $23 million. The task order was awarded under the Biometrics Operations and Support Services-Unrestricted (BOSS-U) contract.

The company says that collecting and registering personnel into biometric databases is key to helping identify insurgents throughout the USCENTCOM AOR. Under the task order, SAIC will provide the U.S. military and coalition partners with biometric enrollment support at entry ports throughout Iraq. SAIC has supported biometric-enabled enrollments in the USCENTCOM AOR for the past six years.

The widespread application of biometric technologies is a game-changing tool in helping to identify and uncover insurgents and terrorists,” said John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “We have seen the value biometric enrollments provide to our military forces, and we look forward to continuing this valuable and critical support.”
