New report from RNCOS projects that automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS) will hold a 35 percent share of the global biometric market, the largest share for any biometrics, by the end of 2010

A research report from RNCOS, an industry analyst company, projects automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS) will hold a 35 percent share of the global biometric market, the largest share for any biometrics, by the end of 2010.

p>Chief among the reasons the report lays out for the AFIS domination of the biometric market are increased use in major civil identification programs and criminal identification systems.

In addition to AFIS holding the top spot among biometric modes, RNCOS also projects a 20 percent compound annual growth rate for the technology over the next two years. Other areas covered in the research report include segmentation of the global biometric market by technology and applications as well as technology initiatives by country.
