U.K. to relax one-bag luggage rule

Following the terrorist alert of summer 2006, British aviation security authorities imposed a one-bag carry-on rule on passengers; this rule will soon be relaxed

Rules limiting air passengers departing from British airports to a single carry-on bag will soon to be relaxed. The Telegraph’s Phil Davis writes that Willie Walsh, British Airways CEO, predicted that the U.K. government would remove restrictions imposed after the airport terrorist alerts in the summer of 2006. “This will go a long way to relieving the hassle factor of the one bag limit,” said Walsh. Passengers are currently restricted to carrying only one item of cabin baggage through the airport security check point, and are required to place liquids in a separate plastic bag. Aviation Minister Jim Fitzpatrick had said in August that the restrictions could be lifted this month providing safety and security measures at British airports are not compromised.
