Digimarc wins Vermont contract extension

Following Idaho’s lead, the maple syrup state sticks to a familiar company to manage its transition into REAl ID

There are hardly any jurisdictions left in the world that do not rely on Beaverton, Oregon-based Digimarc to satisfy its secure driver’s license needs. As we have reported, the digital watermarking giant is popular from Mozambique to Alabama, and many states and countries in between, including Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, and Texas. Most flattering, however, is that states that hire Digimarc tend to stick with the company. We reported recently, to take just one example, that Idaho had signed a $4.6 million, five-year contract extension with Idaho to manage its transition into REAL ID. Now another long-time customer — maple syrup capital Vermont — is extending its driver’s license contract as well, and for similar reasons. “As we prepare to address the forthcoming REAL ID requirements, Vermont is happy to have the support of Digimarc secure driver license solutions,” the Vermont DMV commisioner Bonnie Rutledge explained. No cost was given for the two-year extension.
