A recent Transportation Security Administration (TSA) report found that the new perimeter security system at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York was 100 percent accurate in tracking and detecting intrusions

A recent Transportation Security Administration (TSA) report found that the new perimeter security system at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York was 100 percent accurate in tracking and detecting intrusions.

Airport officials there recently installed a sophisticated SightLogix video system equipped with video analytics capable of tracking and detecting intrusions over large areas.

In March of last year, investigators from the National Safe Skies Alliance, working on behalf of TSA, tested the SightLogix system in more than 900 various scenarios throughout the airport and in every instance the security system was a success.

The report concluded “each alarm prompted the system to display the alarm video, location information, nearest camera reference numbers, date and time, and an audible alarm signal.”

The report also found that “SightSensor target tracking capabilities were available and 100 percent functional throughout the evaluation period” and that integrating the SightSensors into the existing video management system was “smooth and without issue.”

According to SightLogix, when the Thermal SightSensors installed at Buffalo detect a person or vehicle, cameras are automatically instructed to zoom in and follow the target.

“Achieving effective outdoor security comes down to detection accuracy, intrusion assessment, and solution cost,” said John Romanowich, the president and CEO of SightLogix. “This TSA test validates that the selection requirements have been met and can be replicated at other airport perimeters.”
