Southampton, U.K.-based Symetricahas welcomed Caroline Nokes MP (Cons.), the member of parliament for Romsey and Southampton North, officially to inaugurated the company’s new Radioactive Threat Verification (RTV) Solutions Hub. Symetrica says that the new facility will improve the company’s ability to support the global security community – including the U.K.’s Home Office and Border Force, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and other border protection agencies.

The dedicated facility would also allow the company to focus efforts on impending global procurement programs for radiation portal monitors and other radiation identification and detection equipment.

“The investment in a dedicated RTV Solutions Hub demonstrates Symetrica’s ongoing commitment to providing the technology and support that global agencies need to address ever-evolving security threats,” commented Caroline during her tour at Symetrica. “It also proves once again that the UK is at the cutting edge of developing technology solutions for international and home markets.”

Heddwyn Davies, Symetrica’s CEO, said: “Building on our record of international sales growth, Caroline Nokes’ attendance at the inauguration of Symetrica’s RTV Solutions Hub reflects our desire to widen the existing dialogue and strengthen relationships not only with government representatives, procurement agencies and end users but also with the local community, including universities and students, and to demonstrate Symetrica’s contribution to the growing possibilities in the radiation detection industry.”

Symetrica says its RTV Solutions Hub will specialize in the development of a range of detectors, from handheld devices to fixed and mobile radiation portal monitors (RPMs). The opening of a dedicated hub follows recent international contract wins that the company secured. Symetrica highlights its Discovery Technology — a scalable technology employed across the company’s product range and in various OEM products, including the Smiths Detection RadSeeker.

The company says it anticipates that initially a significant focus for the team at the RTV Solutions Hub will be on the development and delivery of RPM solutions on the back of growing worldwide demand for this type of equipment.
