M2SYs wins Frost & Sullivan biometrics innovation award
Bio-Plugin software tool eases adoption of biometric systems in the commercial market
We were impressed last year when we heard that biometrics innovator Atlanta, Georgia-based M2SYS Technology had branched out into the hazardous materials field, signing a deal with Tucson, Arizona-based Dearman Systems to manage and track the chemical company’s employees. It turns out, we were not the only ones keeping an eye on the company. Frost & Sullivan announced last week that it had selected M2SYS as the recipient of its 2007 North American Biometrics Technology Innovation of the Year Award — this time for its Bio-Plugin software tool. “This technology has altered the manner in which software developers previously integrated biometric fingerprint technology into their applications, subsequently accelerating its rate of adoption across all segments of the commercial marketplace,” Frost & Sullivan noted.
The Bio-Plugin is intended to ease adoption of biometric systems by making life easier on software developers who may not otherwise be able to manage it. According to the company, it can be incorporated into any Windows or Web-based software within a few hours, supports any biometric technology software developer’s kit, and operates with complete run-time independency from the host software. Customers seems to like it. “The combination of M2SYS’s Bio-Plugin technology and customer service practices has earned it an outstanding reputation in the biometrics industry,” said Frost & Sullivan’s Imran Khan. One important point: M2SYS is one of the many biometrics and security companies that originally found its niche in the law enforcement sector. That the company has succeeded so well in breaking out into the commercial market is a good sign of both the strength of its technology and its business model.
