Land mines is the curse that keeps on killing and maiming the innocent long after wars end; Mantech receive large contract to help clear mines in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait

Land mines continue to inflict death and injury on the innocent long after the wars in which they were used are over, as the heart-rending stories from Afghanistan, Angola, and other places testify. It is thus good to see that Fairfax, Virginia-based ManTech International (Nasdaq: MANT) has received a contract in the fourth quarter 2006 to support mine-clearing and other systems for the U.S. Army in numerous locations within Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.

The task order, issued under the Army Communications Electronics Life Cycle Command, Rapid Response contract, has a base-period and option-period, and a total potential value to ManTech of $159 million over sixteen months. This new task order is demand driven and requirements may accelerate over time based on the Army’s needs in the theater of operation. ManTech is a lead subcontractor to Alexandria, Virginia-based VSE Corporation (Nasdaq: VSEC).
