In a landmark deal, Fingerprint Cards recently receivedan order for nearly $6.5 million worth of the company’s products from Chinese banks.

The deal is the largest order in the company’s history and comes from Hardware & Software Technologies, its distributor in China and Taiwan.

Under the deal Fingerprint Cards will embed its FPC1011F area sensor in various bank security systems including access control points on portable units, mobile telephones, and tablets. As part of the deal, the company will also provide 400,000 swipe sensors, all to be delivered in 2012.

The latest announcement comes as Chinese lawmakers considernew legislation that would require all foreigners visiting on residence visas, primarily business people, journalists, and students, to have their fingerprints scanned as they enter and exit the country.

The bill is expected to be signed in March, paving the way for a large expansion in fingerprint technology across the country.
