Key Note sees 7 percent growth through 2011 for biometrics, smart cards, and vehicle control

It will cost you £660 to read the entire thing, but this new study from England-based Key Note may be a bargain for those looking to get in on the UK access control market. According the report, the sector saw 7 percent growth in 2006 to £290 million, with much of the expansion piggybacking on strength in the commercial development market. And it is not just CCTV, the Briton’s first line of defense for any security problem. With concerns about al Qaeda increasing in Europe, Key Note sees great demand for such products as: audio and video entryphones, keypad entry systems, systems to control vehicle access, smart-cards and dual-function cards, and biometric systems. One other success story: proximity technology, which is becoming a popular form of accomodating the disabled. “However, the sector appears to have reached its peak, and there is growing competition from hands-free systems and contactless smart cards.” All told, Key Note expects last year’s 7 percent growth to continue through 2011.
