First meeting of users group brings together core users of Situator to share best practices, ideas for product development

Situation management still occupies a small niche of the market, but it is growing growing Orsus, a player in the field of Situation Management, recently held its first Users Group Conference to bring together a group of core North American users of its Situator solution. Attendees shared best practices, lessons learned, and future ideas for the software-based solution.

The event was spearheaded by core users from American Electric Power, the Virginia Port Authority, and Port of Houston Authority, and other corporate clients. Attendees included corporate security directors from each of these companies, their IT professionals, Situator administrators, and others who work with Situator on a daily basis.

The conference included presentations from each user to provide detailed information on how they have deployed and leveraged Situator, a roundtable discussion on tips and tricks and feedback on future enhancements to Situator. Officials from Orsus provided attendees with insight into the newest features of Situator 6.0 and a roadmap of additional developments. Orsus plans to make its Users Group Conference a regular event.

I’m a member of other Users Groups and I applaud the efforts of Orsus to sponsor this initiative to get it off the ground,” said Bill Crews, Port Security and Emergency Operations Manager for the Port of Houston Authority. “This conference provided an uncensored look at using Situator from the people who are using it every day. You can’t put a price tag on the value of that information.”

Ed Merkle, director of Port Security and Emergency Operations for the Virginia Port Authority, plans to implement a similar door management solution he learned about from another user at the conference. The concept significantly reduces the number of holders who are granted routine access in the normal course of business. When the access is denied, an operator in the control room would review the entrance request and authorize entry, thereby creating a log of events in Situator and better controlling access to most secure areas.

The level of customer service from Orsus is exceptional and they are truly in a class by themselves,” said Merkle. “By hosting this event, Orsus continues to show its commitment to providing its customers with as much information as possible on how to use and leverage Situator. You can never put a value on the sharing of best practices.”

The Users Group interaction is a testament to Orsus’ commitment to continuously support our clients by providing them with an opportunity to collaborate with users from different vertical markets and to exchange ideas,” said Jacob Fox, president, Americas for Orsus. “For Orsus, this event provided the company with a chance to receive valuable information, understand the real needs of clients and incorporate that information into future product development.”
